Editor:
My son came home yesterday from school and told me some disconcerting news. Apparently there were people camped out across the street from Ed White (at the crosswalks), handing out Bibles to the kids.
It’s not the Bible part that upsets me. It’s the fact that people are soliciting our kids after they leave school. Mr. Langenhan informed me that they were aware of the issue and had asked the people to leave, however, they refused and informed him they didn’t have to, since they were not on school property.
The fact that they didn’t leave after being asked, raises the question, why were they so intent on pursuing our children? It’s possible they just had good intentions, but allowing this to happen with one group will allow others to do it also.
I don’t think my son should have to deal with strangers shoving a Bible in his face, or anything else for that matter. I for one, am a little more on edge about my son walking home from school right now.
