Jack Gibbs
A service to celebrate the life of Jack R. Gibbs, 72, of LeClaire, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial was in the Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire.
Mr. Gibbs died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Trinity Bettendorf, following a sudden illness.
Jack Gibbs was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Tyty, Ga., the son of Robert and Nell Gibbs
Mr. Gibbs worked at Oscar Mayer & Company, Davenport for over 30 years, retiring in 1997.
His hobbies were being with his family, fishing, hunting, practical jokes, playing the Lotto, and the company of friends.
He gave the gift of life as an organ donor.
Memorials may be made to the LeClaire Volunteer Fire Department or the Iowa Donor Network.
Survivors include his children, Toni (Carl) Temple, Davenport, Traci (Jerry) Cralle, Rock Island, Robbin (Charles Griffin) Cornett, Brooklyn, Iowa, and Eric Gibbs of Tennessee; grandchildren, Bobbie, Wendy, Robert, Beau, Nickie and Dillon; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Shannon, Lennox, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a great-grandson, and a brother, William.
