SECC dispatchers responded to an accident near 21000 Great River Rd. at approximately 12:21 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
When deputies arrived, they found a vehicle completely submerged in the water of an old quarry. The driver, identified as Justin Gill, was able to get out of the vehicle and swim to shore. The driver was transported to Genesis East with non-life threatening injuries.
An on-scene investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling southbound and left the roadway on the shoulder. The vehicle traveled on the shoulder of the road for approximately 211 feet before colliding with a telephone pole. The vehicle then spun in a clockwise motion and entered the water.
The 21000 block of Great River Road (Highway 67) is located in the eastern part of the county near the city of LeClaire.
