William Bennett to celebrate 80th birthday

William Bennett Sr. is celebrating his 80th birthday with an open house from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Davenport. Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate with him and his family. No gifts, please.

Bill was born Nov. 24, 1931, in Scott County. He attended and graduated from Davenport High School (Davenport Central) in 1951. He married Mary Ann Costello on June 10, 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict as a naval photographer. After his discharge he worked as a machinist for Alcoa and retired after 39 years of service.

Mr. Bennett is an avid bowler, a member of the Law and Order of Moose and a Third and Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, and an honorary pallbearer.

His children are William (Sheree), Bernadette Bennett, Ann Potter, Angelette (Mark) Choate, and Joyce (Monte) Valentine. He has 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
